On the 13th November, the MPA will hold their 5th annual autumn fundraiser for Prevent Breast Cancer. The event, initially launched in 2021 as a Charity Lunch, has evolved over the last few years into a Afternoon Tea, serving the famous luxury Midland Hotel Afternoon Tea with a glass of pink fizz, whilst raising valuable funds for the Manchester-based charity.

With over 100 guests at the event, the MPA are delighted that this has become such a firm favourite in their event calendar. Inspiring speakers, festive themes and health and well-being demonstrations, the event provides a relaxed opportunity to get together and network with industry friends and colleagues before the Christmas craziness kicks in.

Katie Walderman, Presenter at ITV Granada Reports will be returning to host the event, along with a panel of speakers including Professor Michelle Harvie, award-winning research dietitian at the Prevent Breast Cancer Research Unit, Prevent Breast Cancer ambassadors Roisin Lawlor and Kath Sellers, plus guest speakers Hannah Bennet, Head of Brand & Campaign Marketing for Sculpt Activewear and Emma Slater, MD Wavemaker and Ambassador of Prevent Breast Cancer.

Prevent Breast Cancer is one of two nominated charities that the MPA and its members support. They are hoping this year’s event will raise record levels of funds for the local charity, which is the the only UK charity committed solely to predicting and preventing breast cancer.

Last year, Prevent Breast Cancer launched their public appeal to build the National Breast Imaging Academy, a facility that will transform the future of breast cancer. This state-of-the-art Academy will provide essential training for more breast specialists, delivering more mammograms, more research, and, most importantly, more lives saved. The charity still has £75,000 to raise towards this facility.

Cindy Simmons, MPA MD affirmed, “We are totally committed as an organisation to supporting Manchester based charities in the work they do. Prevent Breast Cancer along with We Love Manchester are our two nominated charities and providing much needed funds to help these charities is a central part of the MPA strategy.”
