“Inside Stories from the MPA” is the new podcast from the MPA that shares stories from the personalities behind the news, events and initiatives in the communications industry in Manchester. You can hear the first episode here.

Produced by Purposeful Podcasts, we asked the production team to explain a bit about why a podcast will matter so much to the MPA members.

What does podcasting have in common with the MPA?

They’re both ALL about connecting communities.

The MPA represents the entire breadth of media, digital, and creative businesses in Manchester. It connects your community through events and gives its members a platform to share ideas and communicate with each other.

That’s exactly what podcasting does too.

Podcasts are a brilliant “long form content” vehicle for you to be able to express yourself (or your brand) authentically. They work to help your client, audience, or community to get to know you better. It’s a relaxed and intimate medium. That’s why we love them!

We also know that most people listen to podcasts through headphones, whilst doing something else, most likely whilst you’re ‘on the go’. It means your listener can do a speedy download of “what they need to know” to be able to work, live and play in their life today, without having to stop what they are doing.

So – when we sat down with the MPA to bring a podcast to life we knew that’s what we wanted to do for the MPA members too.

“Inside Stories from the MPA” will help MPA members to feel connected to the communications industry in Manchester. It will share stories, past, present and future, from the personalities behind the most creative community in the UK.

Chair of the MPA  Christian James and Managing Director  Cindy Simmons will bring you up to speed with what you need to know in your business right now, plus every few months, MPA board member, Lisa Morton will bring you a ‘deep dive’ interview, showcasing the latest insights and experience from other industry leaders in the city.

The MPA has a heck of a lot of history, and is deeply proud of it so in the first episode that is where we will start, and to help the new podcast presenting team out, we called on broadcasting legend Darren Proctor.

Some of you will know Darren from Key 103, Radio City and Greatest Hits Radio. He’s most recently launched Happy Radio – his own radio station with some famous voices and some great music.  Seeing as Darren’s got a bit of experience in this area, Christian and Cindy decided to turn the tables and ask Darren to interview them for this launch episode.  You’ll hear about the MPA’s events; its purpose, its fundraising, and its passion for supporting the development of the next generation of creatives in the city.

The podcast will be released on the 4th Thursday of every month and we want to hear from you – what do you need to know, what are the issues affecting you and who would you like to hear from? Let us know cindy@mpa.org.uk and we will get it all booked in for you.

We hope you enjoy this first episode of “Inside Stories from the MPA”. Do give the podcast a follow, so you’ll never miss an episode!
