Welcome to new MPA members – Epidemic Sound and over to Account Director, Sean Keyes, to introduce who they are and what they’re all about.

Business Name
Epidemic Sound

What do you do?

Epidemic Sound is the second music tech unicorn to come out of Sweden after Spotify.  The most fit for purpose music library on the planet with best in class artists and state of the art player. Epidemic is on a mission to soundtrack the world.

The company has democratised access to music for storytellers. Its innovative digital rights model paves the way for creators – everyone from YouTubers to small businesses to the world’s largest brands – to use restriction-free music to take their content to the next level, whilst simultaneously supporting the musicians it works with both financially and creatively.

The company was co-founded in 2009, operates across the globe, and has offices in Stockholm, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Amsterdam and London, as well as representation in Manchester.

Our music is heard 2.5B times a day across YouTube and TikTok alone.

Who do you do it for?

As part of the Enterprise team I work with a wide range of clients from Premier League football teams, motor sports teams, broadcasters, agencies and global brands.

We have 40,000+ soundtracks and 80,000+ sound effects. Our platform and app allow our users to source high quality music and sound effects directly from the platform.

Everyone reading this who has experience with music sourcing will have a negative experience around take-downs, expensive costs, complex negotiations and restrictions across various media. We have solved all of those problems at a fraction of the price. Our artists are not part of the PRO system which allows, uniquely frictionless usage across all channels globally.

Who / what kind of businesses would you like to do more with?

Our mission is to soundtrack the world so we have options available for everyone. Enterprise accounts have different requirements that could include global rights, multiple users and then the distribution might be across Online, Broadcast, and Podcasts etc.

I am keen to continue to develop our agency model helping creative teams have access to high quality music for their clients without any of the restrictions. For companies with in-house teams we can cover all of their soundtracking needs from Social to Broadcast.

How would your best client describe you?

Our clients are very different but they all face similar challenges; how can they remove the litigation risks of choosing the wrong music? How can they afford to source high quality tracks? It’s so rewarding to have a company talk you through all of their pain points and we already have a solution to all of them.

“The results from using Epidemic Sound’s music in our videos have been staggering, with longer watch time and higher engagement.” Andy MackenzieHead of Audio and Films at The Telegraph.
