Whose work is it anyway?
The future of Intellectual Property![]()
Changes proposed following a report led by Prof Ian Hargreaves include:
- The establishment of a digital marketplace where licences in copyright content can be bought and sold
- Greater access to so-called ‘orphan works’ whose copyright owners cannot be traced
- Allowing more lawful copying, such as from a laptop to an MP3 player and copying that doesn’t conflict with the core aims of copyright.
This is something no creative enterprise can afford to ignore.
That is why leading law firm Ward Hadaway and The Sharp Project are hosting a no-holds barred panel discussion on the issue, featuring expert contributors from the media, the music business, the film industry and the legal sector.
Panellists will include:
- Ben Stoney [Head of Digital, The Mob Film Company]
- Maria McGeoghan [Editor, Manchester Evening News]
- Greg Robinson [COO of Connect2Media]
- Christian Hill [Director , Project:Simply]
- Jim Spencer [Producer/OGenesis Records/Music Masters]
- Dave Tolan [Producer/Music Masters]
- Laura Harper [Partner, Creative Industries Team, Ward Hadaway]
The event takes place at The Sharp Project, itself a hive for creative enterprise, and promises to be a lively, informed occasion with the prospect of further discussion and networking after the main proceedings.
Places are FREE but are set to fill up quickly so please email events@thesharpproject.co.uk or call [0161] 205 1717 to confirm your attendance.
