Local Media - Local Matters - Wednesday 14th November 2012, Manchester, 12.30pm-3.00pm
There are many challenges and opportunities facing the local newspaper industry and indeed all traditional media sectors. The industry is fighting its way through one of the toughest advertising downturns anyone can remember, but is the picture now slowly beginning to improve?
One thing is certain. The role of local press in scrutinising those in authority, supporting local businesses and communities and campaigning with and on behalf of readers has never been more important - but can it be maintained under huge commercial pressures?
Local papers are reaching new and growing audiences - 33 million print readers a week and 42 million web users a month. How can the sector capitalise and monetise this reach and will the industry emerge from this recession stronger and fitter for the future?
Join the debate on 14th November!
