About the event:

Creative Digital Media Sector (CDM) = Film, TV, Animation, Advertising and Communications, Computer Games, Interactive Media, Post Production and Facilities.

Government figures released in July 2014 show that the number of jobs in the Creative Economy has increased by over 8% in the last year.

Key findings include:

Over the last 3 years, employment within the creative industries has grown at 5 times the rate of the wider UK economy
Employment within the sector has increased by more than 10% since 2011
Creative Industries now account for 1 in 18 (5.6%) of all jobs in the UK
The creative industries are currently worth £71.4bn to the economy; are growing at a faster rate than any other major industrial sector (9.4% between 2011 -12) and provide almost two million jobs.

Whilst these results are welcoming and accurate the Creative Digital Media (CDM) sector has reached a crisis in accessing and securing young talent. The sector is keen to support the work based training route and believe that on the job training programmes through apprenticeships could match their needs, alongside graduate recruitment.

In reality, at the recruitment stage of the process, new entrants to the sector are often not prepared and lack the basic work ready skills to secure employment.

This panel discussion will present the organisations who deliver the training and development of new talent to the sector, local employers who recruit apprentices and graduates and the public services that have funding to encourage recruitment.

During the event we will address the issues we face with this entry level of recruitment, assess the support that is available and prepare a job ready / job match programme that employers can access, that will maintain their business growth .

8.30am registration for a 9.00am start. Event closes at 11am.
