IPA Creative Minds Event "What is a 21st Century Brand?" with Nick Kendall

IPA Creative Minds Event
Location:BJL, Sunlight House, Quay Street, Manchester M3 3JZ
The IPA are running a Creative Minds event in Manchester on the evening of Monday 19th October.

Hear from Nick Kendall, Editor of What is a 21st Century Brand?

In Stephen King's 1970 seminal piece 'What is a Brand' he stated "People choose their brands as they do their friends. You choose friends not usually because of specific skills or physical attributes, but simply because you like them". Now, almost 50 years later, it is clear that brands are still incredibly important with the likes of Airbnb, Spotify, and Uber dominating the space.

But what really is a 21st Century brand? How is it changing? What is critical now? What are the new mantras and principles? What are the new ideas for how to do it? What do you believe?

Nick believes that the brand is the Swiss Army Knife of management tools. Throw something at a brand and it adapts to the change. Market forces have pushed us towards the short term, forgetting the long and broad power of brands. We need bigger ideas to join up the inside and outside, encompass the long and short, and act as a conscience for the company in ever-more transparent times?

Join the debate on the 19th October and the best question asked in advance (email to or on the night will receive a signed copy of the publication. Check out the Tumblr blog and Campaign article for inspiration.
